Tips for making your home attractive to a purchaser

Nothing puts people off more than dirt - so have a spring clean. And don't forget the floors and work surfaces.
Now is the time to throw away all that junk which makes your rooms look cluttered and small.
Clean your windows inside and out so when the sun shines your home sparkles.
Freshen your home to remove pet odours - but use something like a vanilla candle not a pungent chemical smell.
Transform your main room by replacing that old carpet - or add a new rug.
Repaint the walls in light or neutral colours to open up the rooms.
Look round and do those small repairs - it will make your home look well cared for.
Create a warm, welcoming impression for evening visits with small lamps or sidelights.
Banish the cats and dogs - if you can.
Try and avoid visits at meal time, when cooking smells will detract.
Children - can a neighbour look after them?
